Special Fishing Regulations

Below you will find the special fishing regulations for waterbodies in the Ausable River watershed. To see the full list of special regulations vist NYS DEC's website.

West Branch of the Ausable River (except below)

Species: Trout

  • Open Season: April 1 - October 15
  • Catch-and-Release Only: October 16 - March 31
  • Minimum Length: Any Size
  • Daily Limit: 5 (only 2 longer than 12")

West Branch Ausable River from mouth of Holcomb Pond Outlet downstream to marked boundary 2.2 miles downstream of Monument Falls

Species: Trout

  • Open Season: All Year
  • Catch & Release Only
  • Artificial Lures Only

West Branch Ausable River from the Whiteface Ski Center bridge downstream to the Rt 86 bridge at the flume

Species: Trout

  • Open Season: All Year
  • Catch & Release Only
  • Artificial Lures Only

Copperas Pond

General:

  • Fishing prohibited October 16 through March 31
  • Ice Fishing Permitted - Maximum of 3 ice-fishing lines allowed
  • USe or possession of baitfish is prohibited

Species: Lake Trout

  • Open Season: April 1 - October 15
  • Minimum Length: 15"
  • Daily Limit: 3

Connery Pond

Species: Trout

  • Open Season: All Year
  • Minimum Length: Any Size
  • Daily Limit: 5
  • Ice fishing permitted

Upper and Lower Cascade Lakes

Species: Round Whitefish

  • Possession prohbited

Mirror Lake & Lake Placid

Species: Trout

  • Open Season: April 1 - October 15
  • Minimum Length: 15"
  • Daily Limit: 3
